GRAND HÔTEL CAPITOLE - DOWNTOWN TOULOUSE
Located at the corner of Place du Capitole and Rue du Taur, the Grand Hôtel Capitole will open in March 2027. It will feature 101 rooms, a courtyard, a restaurant, a bar, and a spa, all housed in a building that has long been a familiar sight in Toulouse.
The hotel
Located at the corner of Place du Capitole and Rue du Taur, the Grand Hôtel Capitole occupies a building that has long been a fixture in Toulouse.
One hundred and one rooms, seven apartments, and six suites, arranged around a courtyard and a patio—two rare oases of tranquility right in the heart of the city.
The renovation was entrusted to interior architects Biehler & Gravelaine. Terracotta floors, light woods, veined marble, coffered ceilings, wrought iron: a southern aesthetic, refined yet free of nostalgia.
You can recognize Toulouse and its legendary square without even needing to name it.
Like all Orso hotels, the Grand Hôtel Capitole is designed as a home open to its neighborhood—frequented as much by those who stay there as by those who live there.

Our rooms
One hundred and one rooms, six suites, and seven apartments arranged around the courtyard and patio. In the attic, the exposed wood framework remains visible: dark beams, sloped ceilings, and irregular spaces that have not been altered.
Color schemes flow from one room to the next: Toulouse pink, a deep khaki. Oak floors, light woods, wrought iron. The apartments have their own kitchens: you can leave your belongings there for a night or for a month.
THE BULL and Taur Street
In 250, Bishop Saturninus refused to sacrifice a bull at the city’s Roman temple. He was tied to the animal. The beast bolted, charging north through Toulouse, and stopped only at the end of a street that would take its name: “taur,” meaning “bull” in Occitan. This street still exists.
It connects the Place du Capitole to the Basilica of Saint-Sernin along a 350-meter stretch of Roman road that pilgrims have traveled for centuries.
Halfway along the route, the Notre-Dame du Taur church marks the spot where, according to tradition, the body was laid to rest. The Grand Hôtel Capitole stands on the corner. That is where the street begins. And it is this bull that appears on our sign.
