Candlemas is fast approaching, and at Orso Hotels we've decided to celebrate this tradition, an unmissable annual rendezvous for gourmands.

In the heart of the 9ᵉ arrondissement, at 55 boulevard Marguerite de Rochechouart, behind the velvet curtains Freddy Israel's iconic crepe cake is there. It's been enthroned at Maggie' s forever (and we hope forever!). Imposing and generous, this dessert has become a must-have for lovers of sweet treats. Of course, the recipe is a secret, so much for the myth!

The only rule we can give you here is that you have to stack 13 crêpes. Not one more, not one less.

Well, we've tried using a lot more, which is less practical but still just as good!

The Chandeleur culture moment

The tradition of pancakes at Chandeleur has its roots in the Middle Ages, when their preparation was thought to influence the coming year's prosperity. Their round shape and golden hue evoke the sun, symbolizing the return of light and the arrival of spring.
